Since age 15, Brent has pursued the art of metal working. While his start was in ornamental steel and brass, his interest quickly turned to silver and gold while taking jewelry classes sponsored by the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. After completing a 4 year apprenticeship with an Italian trained master goldsmith, Guillermo Zugheri in Houston, Texas, and winning first place in a statewide jewelry design competition, Brent was ready to begin a career in custom designed jewelry that has spanned over four decades. In that time, his interests have broadened to include original works of art in tabletop sculptures of “hand blown” bronze as well as a 20 foot tall Core-Ten steel installation in the heart of Vail Village. For the past 30 years, he has practiced his craft in Vail, Colorado and had the privilege of collaborating with local jewelry artist, Dan Telleen, on countless projects. His original jewelry designs can presently be seen in Dan’s gallery, Karats.
